I wouldn't worry about it because if it did, we would all most certainly be Dead.

Can you please help? I was hoping someone could give me some information on gravity. Is there anything that can happen which would cause gravity to be reduced all at once such that anything on earth under 500 pounds would float up into the sky? If so, how high would they go? What would happen to flying planes at that time? For example would a sudden elimination of gravity be tied to an increase in the speed of the earths rotation? What would cause it to rotate  faster? What else would happen if it did? Or could gravity go away from something to do with the Moon or Sun? What if the moon disappeared? What if the moon suddenly moved twice as close to the earth? Is that even possible? What about a strong burst of gravitational wave from coliding Neutron stars?

Yes.

I was hoping someone could give me some information on gravity. Is there anything that can happen which would cause gravity to be reduced all at once such that anything on earth under 500 pounds would float up into the sky?

No.

If so, how high would they go?

They wouldn't.

What would happen to flying planes at that time?

They wouldn't either.

For example would a sudden elimination of gravity be tied to an increase in the speed of the earths rotation?

No.

What would cause it to rotate  faster?

Something crashing into the Earth.

What else would happen if it did?

A big nasty splat.

Or could gravity go away from something to do with the Moon or Sun?

No.

What if the moon disappeared?

The Moon's gravity would stop and tides would be much smaller.

What if the moon suddenly moved twice as close to the earth?

Tides would get bigger.

Is that even possible?

No.

What about a strong burst of gravitational wave from coliding Neutron stars?

Yes.

first, if it happened all of a sudden, everything, including parts of the earth itself, would all try and keep moving and depending on where you are, you would prolly keep moving in a straight line, so the people at the equator would fly off at a little over 1000 mph (sounds fun to me!!)
Question Author
ralphr1959, i think you should post this as a new question so everyone can see it, and you will therefore get the answer you are looking for. i posted this question quite a while ago, so i was surprised to see i had an answer.
I believe that you all have forgotten about the liniscipical theorum. The linoscipes in the linosphere offsets the off-season which in turn lexplodes the inner and outer psychlodes, putting the earth into a perpetual off-balance. Mallancharai, the Italian prophet, one of the early thinkers of science and the developer of the liniscipical theorum said that if two lexplosions occur in a bicentennial- there is no hope for Earth, and that the linoscipes will continue to develop until they overtake the linosphere and there is no more hydrogen antimonide in its atmosphere. This result would be disastrous for all life on Earth. There is a solution, however. By releasing gaseuos phosphorus telluride into the air, a chemical reaction takes place which breaks down the linoscipes layer by layer until there is no more clogging and suffocation of the atmosphere of the Earth and in the core.
