An Update On The Mad Mad Neighbour

Well I have just had a couple of visits from our PCSO (I was unwilling to go and talk to her a) cos she wouldn't answer the door and b) because i didn't want to be accused of intimidating an old lady.

They have advised her of the measures we have undertaken to prevent our cats going in her garden (a 2 ft prickly screen). However, we can't control the other neighbourhood cats. They have advised her that she cant chuck soil/stones/Sugar over the fence - particularly when it damages my stuff or hits my girls (she denied this, but they candidly said that by her demeanour, they were fairly sure that she knows she is doing this and knows she shouldn't).

All's well? Well not exactly. She is fighting to stay in her own home and considering whether full time care is necessary. She wants to keep her house and garden in tip top shape so no one can force her to move out. I feel such a bitch now. Still at least if I know what her issue is, I might be able to provide some assistance (once I can get over the bleach incident and the "cat Sugar shatters wine glass" incident). I have every sympathy for someone in their 80s (I discovered today she is 83) so now I feel bloody awful.

We have agreed to cut back our trees (they don't actually need cutting back as the police agreed, but it might "help"), other than that I can now sit in my garden without being showered in soil/stones/Sugar/soiled tissue.

No question, just an update.

lol, no Pusskin I missed word out - she should NOT be throwing......

TWR - I accept that the cats shouldn't do this and consequently, we have taken measures to prevent them (ie a 2ft high screen above the fence to stop them with prickly stuff). Also I spend all the daylight hours out there (not because of the cats, but because I like to be outside) and I keep the cats away from that end of the garden. I can't police other people's cats though. Even so, she shouldn't scoop up whatever she finds in her garden (together with stones and soil) and throw it over the fence and never mind whom it hits. Not on.
Been thinking about this old ....person....
It is quite difficult to get an old person out of their home even if they clearly are in desperate need of care.
So...I think this business about 'fighting to stay in her own home' was an attempt to portray herself as a poor old soul who deserved sympathy and help.
Don't fall for it, Barmaid. No good will come of trying to help her.
How could anyone throw bleach over an animal ?
(Or throw sh1t at a person?)

Well clearly she can LadyAlex!!! lol

I've hardened up a bit now. As Mr BM said, she could have really hurt me or one of the girls so it ISNT on. Even my mother said that I shouldn't feel quite so bad because despite the fact that her parents are elderly, if they behaved like that she'd bloody well give them what for. lol
Hi Whiskey - agree with you re the sugar business. It doesn't sound the same does it.
Glad to hear it Barmaid.

I'm with the hardliners here... my ex husband worked in elderly care and he summarised his charges like this

If they were nasty when they were younger they won't get nice as they get older they just add craft and manipulation to the repertoire. She sounds a really unpleasant person... Luckily she used bleach which is relatively less harmful to cats Disinfectant might kill them..
