Just thought I would stop by and update you all with our neighbour dispute as you have been so helpful (esp carrust, zacsmaster and parrafin and barmaid)

Well - the awful old neighbours have appointed a solicitor who wrote to the surveyor to tell him to tell me not to speak to them or visit their property. The surveyor has been dis-instructed too as his work is now finished and its just down to us to negotiate a price to pay them.
The solicitor seems to have 'dropped' them like a hot potato and nothing has been heard from him for weeks - and I have not been told I am now allowed to speak to them.
They have paid for their entire house to be re-dec'd inside and out at a cost of about 6000. Of which we are only liable for part decoration but have no idea how much as they never supplied quotes. The exterior was done by a rip off company who sent in a hefty sales guy to talk them into doing the work (3300 for cash apparently!!!! so no vat paid).
They are completely bonkers and have broken every agreement and contract put in place - so I firmly believe we will not actually have to pay them anything now!
The woman keep trying to catch me on my way to work in the car in the driveway - no idea why - as I'm not allowed to speak to her and so wont!

Its just all mad - but I am much happier and less stressed now as I know that the problem is with them and not us. Thanks to you all for your advice in the past. Its giving me less sleepless nights now.. no idea when it will end - when they drop dead probably! Hey ho

Thanks for your advice in the past Zacsmaster - I was getting myself into a right state - I just dont like 'not getting on' with people you live right next door to and they were being so nasty (and still are!) spreading horrid stories about us.
We are being vindicated now though - and people are slowly realising we are not cowboy builders but are actually doing something really quite special - and people are not listening now to the old cruds next door.

Its a real weight off my shoulders and I can move on now.

Really funny - but another neighbour was starting up a chainsaw to cut a tree down that had partially fallen at the bottom of our gardens. Mad woman next door started literally hopping about shrieking that WE were doing something and OH MY GOD what trees are they cutting down now. Another neighbour kindly stuck up for us and said it wasnt US doing the cutting!!! ha ha revenge is sweet

Hi Nosha:
I really feel for you and can only imagine the mind blowing worry you've been going through. We are so lucky (touch wood!) that all our neighbours are great (so far!) and we all have a mutual respect for one another.

Nothing worse, though, than if the opposite's the case and you've obviously been through hell and back with this carry on. Glad to hear that at least the worst of it's seemingly over, even if you still have the "nutters" next door to you.

Best of luck. Don't let the b*stards grind you down!
