I love the sculpture in there, down in the crypt and the altar especially........

It looks to be a beautiful building. Intend to go and visit properly when its quieter. Went specifically for the flower festival today.The sculpture at the altar was wonderful.

I was very impressed with what I think was called "The Apostles Chapel"
The thing that always amazes me is what they don't have in Winchester. Given its cathedral, the history as one of the first capitals of England, (Wessex), I am astounded that they didn't become one of the first University cities of the country, or to rival Oxbridge...........

By the way, I have always loved the Hotel du Vin, there, giveup - the founding hotel of the group - great concept.

As I said not much time today but intend to go back soon,liked what I saw of the city? as well even though it was absolutely pouring with rain.
If you want to note, giveup, the Bush Inn at Ovington, nr Alresford (close to Winchester) is a lovely pub right in middle of the watercress fields - and a glorious mill/home very close by)......
