its almost impossible to get into pinewood unless you are working for one of the sub-contractors who build sets on the massive stages. i once phoned up to see if they do a tour or something. they do not. same goes for elstree...though i managed to get a tour of elstree as i know someone....on the inside ;-)
If you get a job with my old employers you will quickly get thoroughly fed up with Pinewood etc. as unless you are actually part of the cast or crew, or watching filming, just being there is pretty dull, especially if you're carrying heavy sets backwards and forwards. However, I would recommend watching TV studio rehearsals or filmings, which I seem to enjoy far more than film studios. I never saw an 'active' set though as I was collecting and delivering the furniture before and after the real action.Took all the fun out of it.
Get some work with a 'supporting artist' (extra) firm. Or get tickets to be in the audience of 'The Weakest Link' or 'My Family' both BBC and both recorded there.
