I agree with Chris on your other post.
1-8 = -7
-7 + 8 = 1
1 + 1 = 2
yes addition and subtraction have the same evaluation priority so you go from left to right so the answer is 2.
now try 1-8x8+1=??
x has a higher priortiy than +/- so first 8 x 8 =64
the question now becomes
1 - 64 + 1
1-64 = -63
-63 + 1 = -62
Fibonacci

You have given an answer of 5 , on the other thread to the same question

thanks fibonaci but I was hoping the OP would demonstrate their new knowledege!
The workings are, if you add in a negative value your running total gets smaller, but if you add in a positive value it gets bigger.

In the specific example you give, one can see by sight that the addition of the -8 and the addition of the +8 cancel each other out, leaving you the ubiquitous 1+1= sum. Which, as we all know, equals -798.3 remainder 2.
