I need to buy some microfiche records in order to take my family tree back further. How/where can I view microfiche records if I don't own a viewer though? Do most libraries have them?

Most of them do - a lot of local media copies are stored in this way - have a ring around the bigger town or citiy libraries near you.
It might be worth asking in older bookstores. The catalogue of Books in Print used to be on fiche (a long time ago), and they might have an old reader out the back that they'd be happy to get rid of.
You can buy second hand fische readers on Ebay. Also I've found that some Libraries will let you use their readers to view your own fiche and some won't.
