It would seem that equality is finally becoming the norm in Britain today.

If you don't like the thought of Gay marriage, I'd suggest that you don't get Gay-married......
JTH, your not interested wether I'm married just as I find where how who gets married. It boils down to inheritance law imo. Thats the only difference with marriage or not. Cohabiting couples are subject to same.
It is about far, far more than Inheritance Law, actually, but you obviously have already made your mind up....
I am Roman Catholic and I welcome the advent of gay marriage.

AOG, we can only pray that God grants the great and the good of the CoE the grace to do the right thing. It would tax the judgement of Solomon; be considered a hypocrite by the Godless if you show a humane face and try to accommodate gay members of the congregation, or follow slavishly the OT teachings and turn your back on them.
Rather inheritance law for cohabitants was repealed than gay rights
Of course you would.....
Bazwill run "most of the lefties on here describe anybody that wont bow to their ideology on anything as a bigot amongst other things"

As opposed to all you righties who label anyone who doesn't agree with you as "Leftie"

You may need reminding that all gay people have heterosexual parents and being "exposed" to that didn't make them straight.

Being gay isn't a choice, it isn't a life style, its a way of life and should be seen as such. What you righties keep on about isn't rational, its a democratic right that should be extended to anyone. If churches want to be exempt let them.
Civil partnerships do work. Example Davey and Cleggy. ;-)
Jack marriage is for progeny, as is cohabitants. Thats a more worthy bill for politics.

Same sex couples are adults and able to self serve, whereas progeny from cohabs are vulnerable.
Progeny are a side issue to the gay-marriage question.

Co-habitees can benefit under Inheritance Laws by dint of opting to get married; that they choose not to is a matter of choice for them. And if they decide not to, they would be best advised to make sure that their inheritance issues are dealt with by taking legal advice to make sure their financial affairs are in order.

As I said, the gay-marriage issue is about far more than inheritance matters.
So 1ndex, you don't believe two people should get married unless they intend to reproduce? Is that what you're saying?
I'm maybe looking at this from the worng angle. As far as I'm concerned marriage is about friendship and partnership with someone you love, you can have kids or not but you and your partner are making a life commitment to each other. My kids will eventually sod off and do their own thing but the memsahib and I will hopefully stick it out till "insert your favourite deity here" makes the call.

Now that commitment need to be recognised in law to allow same sex couples to be treated the same in terms of the laws of the land, so yes the legistlative parts need resolution. The religion part is a whole new ball of chalk. In arguing against one of the fundamental tenets of christianity (there are other forms of worship which I know sod all about ) to be "equal" seems wrong to me, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve or Ruth and Esther to keep the ecclisiastical theme going.

The church has enough problems existing in modern society down the path they have decided might make things a whole lot worse.
what is the advantage of SSM, tax or to deprive NOK ? Cant be just lurve as mum will lose out ;)
What happened to the last paragraph... !!

try again

The church has enough problems existing in modern society by going down the path they have decided they need to, might make things a whole lot worse for them.
I think you may need to put that into English......
Why has this issue only become prominent in recent years? Anyone know?
sir.prize - whilst being long overdue, its also a handy distraction.
In my view there are far more urgent issues needing prompt review and decisions rather than faffing around with this 'distraction'. And where the 'ell did the term 'gay-married' come from. Hilarious! Some of the answers on this thread qualify for Joke of the Month.
