well mine isnt.
I went for petrol because desperately low to find the pumps with 'cash only' signs.
I only had 5.00 in cash but accidentally put in 5 litres.
The counter staff went through all the rigmarole of making me fill a form in / checking my mobile number etc etc for 1.75!!
I dread to think what the rest of the queue thought.
I know they dont know that I am going to come back and pay but was it worth it all for 1.75?

I admit I would take affront at not being trusted to return with £1.75 but I expect they deal with this kind of thing many times a day and have got hardened by the dishonest.

I once had a job where I had to authorise if someone had to make a deferred payment.

It was very disappointing to see how many people didn't follow up their promise of paying afterwards.

Unfortunately there are more dishonest people around than we would like to believe.

Iggle P - but thats a whole lot more value than £1.75 isnt it? At least you were trusted having left your watch - I was put through 'procedure' that took longer to perform that it would have done to go home and get the 1.75.

I also had my credit card to pay for the petrol & wasnt expecting the 'cash only' notice on the pumps.
You're certainly getting your £1.75s worth now.

Hi Hopkirk
Yes I know I know but for £1.75 i was left feeling terrible about quite a simple mistake just because of the embarrassment. The other people in the queue ( there were 4 by the time we had finished) were all inconvenienced for at least 10 mins.
A minute stood waiting sometimes creates impatience.
lol, no the child in question was not 6 months old (I think he was 10 at the time) and yes I did go back for him.....eventually
I did go back for him.....eventually

Yeah, last week lol.
gets the red pen out
DOH.
That's always been my dread, not having enough money, but luckily over here in Ibiza theys changed to pay first and then fill up, guess too many people were filling and running. So now I get what I pay for.

Just for interest netibiza - what happens if you pay up front - does the pump automatically stop you filling up with more than you paid for?
I was going to say earlier that certainly in Spain it is normal to pay up front first, you request your fuel in euros in the kiosk not litres and the pump stops automatically.
Ouoi, if I was there I'd have given you the 1.75, no 2.00 no question asked.
re the signs telling you to prepay, it's sometimes the case that this is necessary at night - only they forget to remove the signs during the day.
Years ago I filled up and then realised I had left my cash at home, I left my driving licence as security, they are much more strict now .
Yes the pump stops automatically and you can follow the price on the pump, it counts down for the money and up for the petrol.
