has anyone noticed that more mail is being delivered by TNT. They use cycles to get about, and as someone pointed out in the paper, these bikes are left untended whilst the person is delivering the mail, the bags attached to the bikes aren't necessarily locked, which means the mail is free for anyone to pinch, which isn't a good thing at all. I wonder no one had thought of that. At least with Royal Mail they carry the postal bag...

They use these big red buckets on wheels here. Not really sure how else to describe them, but that's what they look like. Or carts.

They are also left unattended, but the seem to be locked. I couldn't wrench it open, anyway.... :P

RM 'round our way push trollies, which they leave unattended at the end of cul-de-sacs and anywhere else they can't be bothered to push them.

that would be Royal Mail, the TNT guys use panniers on the side of the bicycles, and they don't appear locked, so anyone could dip their hand in and take the post, that does seem rather bizarre...
Ours is definitely still Royal Mail. I know my postie well (not in that way :) ) as I get lots of parcels delivered with me being semi housebound.

i saw one at the end of our road, it was left there for a time, whilst the TNT courier was delivering the mail, it does seem odd that no one thought to have panniers that lock quickly and easily while they deliver mail. After all if letters you are expecting go awol, who is to blame?
That does seem very odd. My postie won't even give me the mail if I'm walking down the street. He says he has to make sure it goes in the letterbox - Ignoring the fact that he also puts in number 23's on a regular basis!
Question Author
i only noticed this recently as more and more of these TNT mail deliveries are being used.
I frequently see post office bike left unattended with bags of mail still on them round this way.
Are you sure thay are delivering mail?

I thought the Royal Mail still had the monopoly on the 'final mile'.
round here in the country our mail arrives in a van with the postie. And a lovely man he is too
Question Author
definitely post, we also get the Royal Mail, at least for now.
...not "post office"....Royal Mail.
