So, it seems that times have changed.
Can you just imagine this scenario in the 50's?

"Officer, Cod and chips with mushy peas twice , mate, salt and vinegar, but easy on the salt"

It's good job they didn't fall off and hurt themselves. The owner of the building would probably have had to pay them compensation.
I remember a story very similar to this last year, or the year before... is this a rehash or a new occurrence?

This would have have been my preferred method:

//Hooded youths brought chaos to town after climbing onto businesses //

Chaos ? - Very dramatic language by the mail . as usual .

I'm suprised the coppers didn't deploy umbrellas as well , in case the youths wanted to releive themselves ; afterall 30 hours is a long time .
the little tykes would have likely bounced back up to the roof...
Being offered KFC would be enough to drive me up onto the roof in protest. I might be inclined to lob the odd stone if they tried to force me to eat it...

Cod, Chips and mushy peas, on the other hand... food of the gods :)
I love the way that the bear bounces back almost to the height he fell from in the first place, and then lands splat on the ground, thus making the presence of the trampoline somewhat pointless.

ludwig...LOL
Police showing 'duty of care'. Oh yes duty of care when I got arrested for protesting about animal testing, slammed in a cell for 2 hours without food or drink, just to be let off without charge . I harmed no-one did no damage and am the wrong side of 65 years old but didn't even get offered a cup of tea let alone a KFC , which I would have put down the toilet anyway. They should have hose-piped them off the roof.
seb, very good points. and i agree about hosing them off the roof.
They could have sent a bear up on a cherry picker to encourage the scalliwags down.
..I'd estimate a delay of no more than 3 seconds before they voluntarily left the roof.
This sort of thing never appears to happen in places like Iraq and North Korea and we have to ask ourselves "Why?" and what can we learn from them in scenarios like these ones.
// This sort of thing never appears to happen in places like Iraq and North Korea and we have to ask ourselves "Why?" //

It's because they don't have as many bears there as in North America, and in the case of Iraq, not as many trees either.
ludwig, very good... not to mention bad haircuts...
And by contrast, there is this one in the paper today...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2315486/Andrew-Pimlott-burned-death-police-taser-horror-Officers-fired-50-000-volts-man-doused-petrol.html

A man who had doused himself with petrol was tasered with a 50,000volt gun where upon he exploded!

It is not clear whether this was no messing policing or sheer stupidity.
