Caspar is deaf-so naturally noisy....but sometimes he drives me crazy.
After a relatively quiet period...today he's been howling all day-and it's LOUD! If I am downstairs in the street-I can hear him 4 floors up.
He sounds like a desperate cat in heat....but he's 'done'.
Any ideas why?

Maybe it`s something to do with spring and them getting frisky. My mum`s cat`s driving us mad at the moment, howling all over the place. I can hear from my house a cat in the neighbourhood who is howing as well. I think it`s a Siamese as it`s a very distinctive sound. It`s been going on for a few days.

Exactly,Tony.....sometimes my water sprayer is used a lot on the little monster...but even that's a game. He runs and hides.....then comes charging down the stairs with an evil cat grin on his face....

Yes...maybe it is Spring....
Someone suggested I get a lead...and take him for walkies.
LOL, yes they are also very good wind up merchants as well.
could he be getting a bit senile ? he might be seeing things ?
He's probably bemoaning his stolen virility.

Has he had a change of diet or routine? They can get upset about things that we barely notice.

I sympathise, as my cat has turned into a yowler, quite often at three in the morning. The vet says it's the onset of senile dementia, but Caspar seems far too young for that.
One of our cats went deaf, he used too yowl during the night, we concluded it was because he became disorientated and couldn't work out where we were.

An update....he deposited a HUGE furball on the carpet this morning-then proceeded to wolf down two trays of food. He is now still noisy-but 'normal' noisey as opposed to frenetic,OTT shouting.
Methinks the furball was the cause.
Yes methinks your right, pasta.
Oh glad you got to the bottom of it pasta.
I thought it might be an age thing until you said how old he was.
I hope I don't start yowling when I get senile dementia.
