When I was going through depression a few years back I watched Hot Fuzz several times. It took my mind off my problems so I guess it was uplifting for me.

Yes a great film that, Noth.
i sometimes like really schlocky weepies, the sort you can flop down and watch, with chocolates and coffee, or wine, whichever comes first. Ladyhawke is one of those, nice love story, just the sort you go aghhh at the end..
I loved Sqad's list I'd also add A Matter of Life and Death, Shadowlands (sad but...) You can't take it with you (another Frank Capra with Jimmy Stewart)
Now Voyager, 42nd Street and possibly the best ever "B" movie Tremors!
also l ove you can't take it with you, hilarious, as is Bringing up baby with Cary Grant. And the Philadelphia story with Grant and Katherine Hepburn.
em10, Love Ladyhawke
Witness is a favourite when I am feeling down.
I used to find Emmanuelle uplifting, but no more (must be my age).
Saturday night fever, Two lane blacktop.
i have lost count how many times i have watched it. There is another called something like stranger of the heart with Teri polo and Andrew McCarthy, a charming love story, definitely for the girls...
Em 10 I forgot about those other ones - Bringing up baby was on tv only last week, and I love the Philidelphia story as well. Ladyhawkem haven't seen that in ages, sadly not in my dvd collection, might be among the videos
some films do give you that life, buzz.
"Whisky Galore". Love the way pomposity and authority fail to get the better of the people of Barra, and island I know and love.

""Fantasia by Walt Disney. Saw it during the war and got hooked on classical music for life.
Any Adam Sandler film, Dirty Dancing, Toy Story, Love Actually, Notting Hill, Mrs Doubtfire, Elf, Anchorman, The Proposal, The Hangover, Wedding Crashers and Bridget Jones.
Operation Petticoat, where Tony Curtis plays alongside Cary Grant, whom he had imitated in
Some Like It Hot.
Jackie Brown.
And The Railway Children.
