how about 'meet the parents' or 'bruce almighty' or and I know it's early 'elf' will ferrall is v funny. Regards MB
Amelie always works wonders for me, it's simply magical and guaranteed to make you smile.
i have got dodgeball to watch tomorrow night - cannot personally recommend yet but everyone telling me it is really funny. Any comedy series you are particularly into ie best of the two ronnies or peter kay live at blackpool tower or something? Usually you can rent these videos too? Hope you are not feeling too down? If it is a nice day outside - maybe some fresh air could help? Of course I dont know your situation. Good luck
Biodome every time!
Dodgeball is hilarious - can watch it over and over.
Armagedon
Zorro armagedon isn't uplifting. I cried my eyes out when I watched it.
Any Laurel & Hardy shorts compilation (esp if it includes County Hospital, Sons of the Desert, The Music Box).
it's a wonderful life! unbeatable as far as uplifting films go.

That was quick! Thanks. I've seen a few of those but I'll try Amelie and Biodome (I just googled the last one and it looks funny). I was thinking of something more like 'Pay it Forward' or 'Life or Something Like It' that leaves you feeling there's more to life.....

Armagedon doesn't fit the bill right now - although it is a watchable film. But I do like Laurel and Hardy. And I've got 'It's a Wonderful Life so I can always re-watch that.
Yeah, sorry. Biodome has no great meaningful message or make you feel fantastic, but you'll laugh your a55 off in a basic humour kinda way! And laughing is GOOD!!
really enjoyed MRS BROWN with dame judy dench and billy connelly , dont know how historically correct it is but billy connelly was very good in it
Just watched 'In Her Shoes',& really enjoyed it,'The Family Stone' is a good one too.
Dont' know if you're into old films but 'The Quiet Man' is excellent. Stars John Wayne (for once in a non-western role) and Maureen O'Hara. Set in quiet rural Ireland; great story; very funny; excellent characters.
I cannot believe that no one has mentioned Shawshank Redemption yet.

The best uplifting films (e.g. Shawshank & It's a Wonderful Life) take you to the depths of despair, before ending with a glorious uplifting finale that will leave you grinning from ear to ear for a very long time to come.

Now 'The Quiet Man' sounds interesting...(as a concept as well as a film!) I'll see if I can get hold of that one. Thanks.
Amelie won't let you down, it's so quirky, if you looking for something like pay it forward another good one is "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle stop cafe" there are a few very very sad moments in it, but it challenges your views and leaves you with a lot of faith in humanity.

Chicken soup for the soul.....

Hope you feel better soon. x
