I am new to the food processor world and due to disability I can no longer make pastry by hand.I don't know which blade to use because I always used to use a knife to cut the fat into the flour then my hands,so do I use the sharp cutting blade,or the less aggressive plastic blade?Or something completely different!

I only have a basic processor,so I think they are my only choices.

Any advice would be brilliant,thanks

I don't have one, but I hope by answering. someone who does will look here and help.
The metal cutting blades are the ones to use - but don't overdo it!

Maybe that's why things didn't exactly turn out well :(
I went ahead and used the plastic blade-well I have just finished getting the flour out of all the kitchens nooks and crannies.

Maybe I will try again, but my illusions of the world of food processors are well and truly broken!

I had been pestering OH to get me one for years, now I am forced to use one it is a strange world I have been thrust into.
All I can say is when St Delia used hers on TV,flour never went everywhere and HER pastry was a nice clean ball in her bowl.

It tasted OK though, and that's the main thing ;)
How on earth did you end up with flour all over the kitchen? Food processors only work with the lid on (in-built safety feature)
Must admit, diddlydo, was thinking exactly the same!

The flour jumped around and obviously the lid is not flour proof!
I thought it would of been, but a surprising amount of flour came out through the tiny weeny gaps between lid and bowl.
So how do I stop this, tape the lid to the bowl perhaps?? LOL
