I buy minced lamb to make shepherds pie. I don't think it's cheap. £4 is not cheap IMO.
Jeza, we were eating a fair bit of smoked Basa and River Cobbler until we saw a feature about them being farmed in Vietnam in sewage laden rivers, and being cat fish they feed off the sewage sludge on the bottom of the rivers, the dogs had the rest we had already bought.

Ive never heard that about mackerel though.
so basically, everyone's slumming it jez ;)

I haven't seen it in ages, ummm sit breast of lamb on a rack when you roast it rolled and stuffed- it's still heavy but fine
ummmm, exactly! I asked a butcher why they no longer display breast of lamb, they said its because nobody wants it, we do see it occasionally in the supermarkets rolled and stuffed.
I'll ask my butcher.

^^ not that he belongs to me :-)

don't know what you mean humber "every one is slumming"
i made lamb curry and rice with coconut flakes, almonds and other bits in
Roast chicken, carrots, peas, cauliflower, green beans, sprouts, cabbage, parsnips, roast tatties, loadsa gravy, but no yorkshires as I have run out of eggs and have run out of ready made. Don't do pudding, but will probably have some cheese and crackers or a sarnie later on.

I used to think frozen yorkshire would taste awful, but I left OH in charge of the roast one day, and his 'homemade' yorkshires (yes, I rooted through the bin to find his secret!) were so tasty, I usually have them in reserve in the freezer.
I was just joking jez, when I posted that, everyone from your opening post onwards had described lovely meals
Well I've done most of it. Just waiting for the mini roasties to cook then we are off. I'm starving!
Mexican chicken with new potatoes, brussels and runner beans. Fresh fruit salad later when I can fit it in.
