Is Goofy a Dog?

Can anyone tell me is Goofy from the Disney creators a dog? he walks , talks shops and sings so I'd like to know if he is or not? Compared with Pluto he's more human than dog!

Not 100% certain, but I always thought that Goofy was a bull, as his girlfriend is Clarabelle who is a cow (if you pardon the expression!)

Goofy is a dog. He was originally names Dippy Dawg. His name was first indicated as being Goofy in 1938 and was completely changed to Goofy in 1939 in the release of 'Goofy and Wilbur'. Goofy was created as a human character, as opposed to Pluto, who was a pet, so he walked upright and had a speaking voice.
