Peter and The Wolf

In the introduction when the woman explains how all the characters are played by instruments, when Peters part gets played by the strings, which piece of music is played?

As far as I know it doesn't have a particular name. I imagine hundreds of schoolkids will remember this piece as their very first introduction to classical music.

I think it's name is officially something boring like "Peter's Theme". Wasn't it used as the theme tune to a TV programme in the 60s? I knew it before I first came across Peter and the Wolf, which was in the early 70s.
