we have cd players that play audio whilst still in mp3 format and we have dvd players but why dont we have players that play movies in mpeg format ?

audio cd's allow us to store and play 100's of tracks from 1 disk so surely we should have movie players that allow us to play several movies all stored on 1 dvd in their original format ?

i know there must be copyright issues but they could get round this surely ?

any ideas anyone ?

If you look around you can find plenty of cheap dvd players which offer DIVX/AVI playback which is the perfect way to store multiple movies on one disk and the quality is better than MPEG.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I bought a cheap Targa DVD player that plays divx and xvid, and the picture quality is superb. You can store five or more films and from 12 to 25 or more tv shows on one disk. Plus it plays vcds and mp3s.
