listening through hi-fi

does anyone known if there are any special adaptors that would let me listen to my computer music and my dvd through my 1 hi-fi. I used to have 2 hi-fis - 1 for my computer and for my dvd player. but i just have 1 for both now and don't want to have to keep changing the aux cables in the back when i go from my comp to playing dvds.

Do you a separate amp or is it a midi system? If its separates there should be at least 4 inputs. Run a stereo jack out of your computer to the aux input and your dvd into another input. If its a midi system with no inputs i dont know what to suggest - sorry.

You can get switches from Maplins or the like that will let you do this. The ones I have seen have been manual - you have to manually select the source - but if you site the box in an accessible spot, it's a lot easier than grubbing around the back of your hi-fi.

it's a micro hi-fi i have, which has just the one red and white socket at the back (aux? i don't know much about electronic sounding stuff) but i think that site that LeMarchand mentioned could be the thing. but do you know what exactly it would be on that site, there just too much on it. it's confusing.

This seems to be the cheapest at Maplins: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=32114&TabID=1&source=12&doy=27m12 . Might be worth shopping around - I'm sure I've seen them cheaper - may even be worth checking "Pound" type shops, as they have an increasing range of A/V leads these days.

i bought that one you suggested LeMarchand and it is just the thing. thanks. i just have to switch the switch to change what i'm hearing from. good stuff.

Get a 3.5mm jack to twin phono rf lead - can get between 1metre and 10metres at maplin

OFC (Oxygen free cable offers better sound quality but costs more)

Put the headphone jack into the computer and the other end into the "RF IN" or "AUX IN" or "TAPE IN" sockets of your stereo. then just select RF, AUX or TAPE on your stereo
