I went out on Sunday night and went to the end of the road to get my lift. At 6.15pm on a dark, snowy, cold sleety night,I heard a little bird in the hedge going "si si si si", very quietly at intervals.I know one shouldn't project human feelings on them, but it sounded so mournful! Which bird might it have been? ( We never see sparrows round here, but any other suggestions welcome). Thanks for any replies. Hope it survived the night.

Thank you chipchopper.Appreciate the reply and apologise that family visitors have made it a while since I have been on the computer. It could well have been a great tit, as there are always several calling during the day and the bush was very close to what I call the "tit tree" as blue tits, coal tits, long tailed tis and great tits can often be seen there.( Any combination at any one time.)
