Allegedly the three most valuable words ever written - virtually doubling shampoo sales overnight ...

... so do you?

... and why???

I know I do - once with something industrially cleansing (hello Mr Vosene) and then again with something more interesting.

Then, having effectively removed all the natural oils, I slather it in 'conditioner' (usually of the ginger nut, jaffa cake and aardvark type) to render it at least marginally controllable.

Is it all necessary, or are we all just being led by the nose by the marketing wonks ... ?

One wash here too, when I first came to this backward island, we had to heat up water in a saucepan to wash hair and then rinse under a cold tap (which had the water pumped up by hand 300 times to get it to work!) , so obviously wasn't hanging around! Then a hairdresser told me the two washes were to sell more shampoo, so I never have!
and as I always had shiny hair I still, to this day finish off with a cold rinse.
One wash here too - but I have to find my remaining hair first ;-)

Is that why you keep a magnifying glass in shower, Chris?!
I shampoo twice, never use conditioner and do it all over again the next day.
It's not a magnifying glass, Barmaid; it's a microscope ;-)
1st shampoo to create lather, 2nd to remove sediments. cheapo cond if your hair is natural but color cond (thick creamy) if your hair is processed. Once a week is plenty if you dont have a dirty job.

Vosene can cause dandruff if used to often. Never use washing-up liquid as it contains detergents & will cause dandruff.
One wash if I haven't used products on my hair (like bed head or gel) two if I have. Lightweight leave in spray conditioner every wash which I find preferable to the ones you rinse off.
A friend of mine had dyed her hair too much and it had to be stripped, her hairdresser told her to wash her hair with Fairy Liquid, Vosene or Head and Shoulders to get some of the colour out before she went to the salon.
>>>Never use washing-up liquid as it contains detergents

What on earth do you think shampoos are made of then, Tambo? They're basically industrial detergent plus a thickening agent (such as common salt) and something to make them look and smell good.
what ayg, tell her to get another stylist - pronto
not with bleach or cleaning chemicals....shampoos are more soap
A baby shampoo is kindest for your hair. My three year old grandson who has a mild excema never gets his hair washed or even wetted if it can be helped and yet his hair is shiny and clean and always looks as though it was freshly washed. Interesting observation. He does get it wet swimming and then it is rinsed in the swimming baths shower though.
ayg, once hair is tinted, it's processed. Only re-growth will be natural. Tell your friend to use a stylist/colorist who can tint her hair to her color-choice. Tints today are made to cover over old/new tints without causing further damage to hair - if methods are accurately followed. Hair does not need stripping any more.
