Evening all,

It might sound a bit morbid, but I'm really interested in studying "criminal psychology" but from Victorian times (Jack the Ripper etc), but cannot find anything along these lines, it's all modern day studies.

Can anyone suggest anything i could look into? I've found a couple of books on Amazon on the subject buts thats all.

Any help/suggestions would be great.

Thank you

Have you come across the magazine series, published in the mid-1990s, called 'Murder in Mind'? Some of them might be of interest to you. For example, there's one about Henri Désiré Landru:

If you've not heard of him . . .

(That's the first of 8 pages).

I seem to have read any number of books about murders in those times but I'm not in a position at the moment to recall and list them. One on the shelf right in front of me is "Victorian Murderesses' by Mary S Hartman (Robson Books 1977, paperback 1985)
I found this strange site - you might find some leads in it.

15 years ago I did an MSc in Criminology. I obtained all the books I required
on the era from Abe Books of London. Tell them what your interests are and they will suggest a plethora of material, many second-hand, and quite cheap.
There is a series by Steve Jones that explores local newspapers etc eg London, the Sinister Side - done for most of the country and often for sale in museum shops.
