I have been split up from an ex partner for 8 years and every so often he rears his ugly head. whilst I was in a relationship with him he did some weird and wonderful things, always accusing me of sleeping around and looking at other guys and immensly jealous of past relationships, he even made up posters on the computer and put them in his work locker saying that they had been planted there!! The posters we always about me and what a '***' I was and bad news. I confronted him and said lets report it to your boss, but hey ho, he wouldnt!! When we split he confessed it was him. Then he started sending letters to my new partner saying I was bad news etc. I am now married to my new partner and he has also married. We live about 6 miles from each other so rarey see each other but when we do he always has to do something. The latest is text messages to my landline from a mobile number not saying any names but obviously meant for my husband. He's basically saying, 'oh sorry to hear you are unhappy mate, you shouldnt of married her, maybe the next person u meet will be young and fit!' I no 100% these are from him. My daughter has moved on the estate he lives on so he has obviously seen us there and its 'upset' him. I have a police file on him from the past for violence and harrassment, is it worth me ringing the police and adding this to the list or could I ask a solicitor to send him a letter saying we have our suspicions he is up to his tricks again?? I fear that one day he may do some real damage.

Thanks chelle. Well the police couldn't of been nicer! They have enough evidence to arrest him if necessary. Firstly they will issue him with a police information notice, which basically means if I receive any further letters, emails, calls he will be arrested and have to appear in court. So hopefully he will see sense and leave me alone! I feel sorry for his new wife as she won't have a clue that he is doing this. They will be paying him a visit this week, they have to visit a minimum of 3 times if he is not in or does not anser in those 3 visits they will leave a card requesting he contacts them, if he doesn't then they will issue a warrant for him. I just want him to leave me and my husband alone!
you must live in a very low crime area, well done, can;t get cops to come out for real crime let alone the hint of harassment

Yes i am lucky I do live in a low crime area, but 8 years of harrassment is enough now! Considering he was an abusive man both physically and mentally, I don't call it a hint of harrassment.
