Adjusting your crutch. First, you have to have your main thing hanging exactly perpendicular, then give it a slight toss so that it begins to swing, and then bend your crutch so that your main thing swings continuously in equal arcs left and right of plumb. Anybody else have this problem?

Well, Stewey, I love old clocks. (Up until recent years, we had two clock museum here in East Anglia which, alas, are no more). But I'm still not going to let you adjust my crutch, or even lay your hands on my 'main thing' - even if it IS failing to swing continuously in equal arcs!

;-)
just the man....fix my watch please stewey, its a sentimental heirloom

Tamborine, I'm presuming that it's a mechanical watch, take the back case off, and you will see an adjuster with plus and minus signs. Move the lever on the adjuster in the direction you want: faster or slower, slight adjustments mind you.
I've tried that & have it on minus & cant get it any less but it still runs like a scared rabbit
I've been watching this vid - this man's language has me roaring :)

Tambo, if the watch is important or sentimental to you, take it to a watchmaker and he will adjust the balances on the balance wheel.
Question Author
Weights on the wheel that is.

And take it to a qualified watchmaker. If you just take it to the nearest jewelry store, they send the watch to an expert and you get charged by the initial store and the expert...see what I mean?
No such experts here these days. So will have to take my chances at the regular jewellers. After seeing the vids there's no way I'm having a go at it. G'nite, time for my slumbers.
