Are Hmv And Jessops Breaking The Law Not Honouring Gift Vouchers?

Too late for Jessops but HMV are still trading, but both refused to honour gift vouchers. As they have had the money surely they are breaking the law not honouring them, also were they being deceptive selling them when they must have known they were both going to the wall?

Just a little point. The revenue is no longer a preferential creditors. I believe they lost this status on 15th September 1973, so the taxpayer is down at the bottom of the pecking order.

Are vouchers such a great idea? - "Here's a Bluewater Voucher (pre-paid card) you can use it in the dozens of shops in Bluewater" Alternatively, "Here's a tenner, you can use it in the tens of thousands of shops throughout the UK".....

How about the selling of the vouchers before Xmas when big bosses knew they were flailing?

A moot point ojread, if it could be proven that they were fully aware of the timing, perhaps. However, I think it may be difficult to make it stick. This is one for Barmaid or New Judge if they are floating around.....
