kidnapped child..
heard on the lunchtime news that a 3 year old child had been kidnapped..Raped..and is now in hospital..fortunately they seem to have caught the men that took her..well i hope they get what they deserve not a cushy prison cell with all the mod cons at our expense..its about time they bought back the death sentance for monsters that commit crimes like this..They are pure evil and the trauma the child must have endured is beyond belief...Why people do things like this i will never know or understand they must have missing brain cells or be genetically weak and evil..its a vile crime and as a parent and grandmother it sickens me..I would quite happily push the button if they were sent to the electric chair and wouldnt loose a wink of sleep doing it!! no doubt some of you will disagree with me but this is my opinion!!

This is exactly the hysterical reaction that QM expressed concern about.
Yes, it's an abhorrent crime, but don't assume that because some of us are not immediately on the rampage looking for someone to castrate, hang or torture (torture? Now that is sick), that we don't care.
Now take your ignorant, hysterical lynch mob and go and petrol bomb another paediatrician.
Hackneyed comments that the death penalty puts us on the same level as the criminal are, of course, patently absurd, as are comments about state sanctioned execution being 'murder' - these are the usual feeble arguments trotted out in any debate on this issue...............however, despite the above, I am vehemently against the death penalty.
My punishment would be whole life imprisonment with no frills - I'm talking a 4ft by 4ft dank cell, solitary, no TV etc etc etc....
On the castration point, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Why is there such a clamour for it? If you castrate child rapists then surely that means that you plan to let them go at some point, as you believe they won't re-offend. Unless you want to castrate them AND lock them up for the rest of their lives. Isn't that just sadistic torture? The best way to stop re-offending is for them never to come into contact with kids again. Life meaning life. We don't need to resort to mutilating people to satisfy the lynch mob.
I think the point has been lost that this must have been a planned attack and as there is obviously no question that the man/men arrested are guilty they should be put to death as they have no right to walk on this earth, whether they are ill or not. Failing that, tie them up in the town centre where the little girl came from. Then you'd see the opinions of the people.

lankeela, it is because we are a 'civilised society' that we find this crime abhorrent.
It is as a 'civilised society' that we have in place a system for dealing with offenders.
If we descend to the level of lynch mobs, (torture, castration, and your own 'tying up in the town centre' are just some of the ideas put forward by posters), then we no longer have a society. We have rule by a hysterical mob who feel they are above the law - a vociferous judge and jury rolled into one. Lord help you when you say, or do, or think something that the mob disagrees with.
Can I just mention, regarding all this talk of castration, that they did actually do an experiment in America years ago, where they chemically castrated sex offenders and you know what? IT DIDN'T WORK! These people still reoffended, they still "raped" women and children, they used "impliments" rather than there own bodies. (sorry about the images this might give you but...)

I along with my daughter have been on the receiving end but I can still debate it rationally.
Obviously everyone feels strongly about this. There is a death penalty in USA and I believe that there are arguments for and against reintroducing it here. I dont think its murder to take the life of child rapists but again I WOULD NOT VOTE in favour of reintroducing it here (despite my kneejerk reaction is I want those ******** dead). As said somewhere else we have along history of making mistakes and the system is fallable.
I do not however think that our justice system will give this girls family that (even death wouldnt do that, but I am sure it would provide them with a temporary respite). There has to be a better system in place to protect are children because despite QUIZMONKEYS sarcastic comments all young children are innocent. I wish i was better person and didnt wish child molesters dead but my feelings on this matter have gotten very strong since becoming a mother. IT IS DIFFERENT when you are parent, you love a child like no other in you life, where as I could empathise in these cases before I feel sickened and heartbroken now. What exactly are we gonna do to protect our children???
Im all for capital punishment. The toddler in this case is now out of hospital and safe with her mother but is too afraid to go home. I live near Llanrumney where the child lives and believe me so many people are outraged by the rape and part mutilation of the toddler not to mention the mental trauma. 3 grown men raping a baby? Come on,they should be,hung drawn and quartered!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all your replys i would give most of you stars but it would take too long...I am glad they have someone charged for the offence and i hope the child recovers allthough it may take a long time if ever!! Its just a shame that we have to many do gooders in the uk and the person responsible or persons! wont get what they deserve..their defence will probably come out with some bullsxxt of how they were deprived etc etc..anyone that doesnt think the person or persons involved should be punished in a hard way well they really need to look at themselves..and ask what if it happend to my loved ones? its a good job we dont all think like quizmonkey..lets hope this person or persons get what they deserve off their fellow inmates when they are locked away..as the british justice system wont give them what they deserve..!
