Someone wants to go to prom with me but I really want to go with someone else. The person who wants to go with me is in my friend group and I think if I turn her down everyone won't be friends with me anymore. Also the person I want to ask to prom is this persons best friend. I've thought about this for weeks now. Please Help me.

Ah, grasscarp, wheres the romance? ;) Drake, why don't you just all go as a group, I've never understood all the pairing off for proms.

If I were you I would not go to prom at all. If it causes so many problems find an excuse and give it a miss.

Go with the friend group person - you'll have plenty of time to chat up the friend's best friend later on.
Drake - “... The person who wants to go with me is in my friend group and I think if I turn her down everyone won't be friends with me anymore...”

If your so-called friends fall out with you over this then they aren't your real friends. I know that's not probably very helpful but it's the reality of the situation. My advice would be to get some better friends.

tell her you want to go as a group of friends rather than a couple.
Or try to find her a date and ask out her friend and everyone wins.
Or you could just give her a chance and go with her. You might have fun. Never know.
Or just don't go
Be bold. Faint heart never won fair lady as the old saying goes. Ask the one you want first, she might refuse you!
I remember our school prom, what a headache. My friends and I decided not to bother, we hit the nightclubs instead! Saved many arguments and let-downs
Seems someone will be upset whatever you do/say. Think going to the prom as a group of friends is a very good idea.
//Also the person I want to ask to prom is this persons best friend.//

Where's the prom . . . this I gotta see!
Stand up and say that the whole prom idea is an American import and a cynical marketing scheme, which you won't support in times of national trouble.

Then go by yourself...
If you don't want to go with them nicely tell them how you would like to go with them. They might be happy with that.
^^ Naughty. :o)
Yes I know, naomi, but I only half apologise for taking a sentence at its face value. Best to make a joke of it than express the irritation I feel at the mangling of our beautiful language.
And there am I mangling: 'better' not 'best'.
