Does anybody think their mistake is far far far far worse than anybody's and why. I do have one big mistake along with tiny ones and I know I have to live with it the rest of my life and it is very hard.

but just to let you know i am imagining all sorts of you, and i'm sure whatever it is isn't as bad as what i am imagining :) :)
Connemmara, but which is the real you, that person back then or the person people love now? we are all allowed to make mistakes, its how we face up to them and what we do to rectify our mistakes and how we learn from them is the important thing.
It's the consequences of your mistake that you are beating yourself up about. Is there anything you can do now, to alter those consequences? If not, then you do need to move forward. If you can do something, that's different.
Life is full of wouldhave, couldhave, shouldhaves. Everyone is entitled to one big mistake.

Yes........and that is the bottom line. I don't buy this argument about making mistakes makes you a better person, that depends upon what you consider to be a "better person" and that may not be the opinion of people who know you.

Your mistake will dwindle into insignificance as the years go by and until then, you will have to deal with it in your own specific way.
'' evertyone thinks im such a lovely person'' maybe its time to accept what people think. :)
I've made some whoppers in my time! Don't let it eat you up.
Only just seen this thread, Connemmara, and you know what they say, "the person does not exist who has never made a mistake".
I know myself that it is harder to forgive yourself for something than it is to forgive others but I think, if you sit and think of the ways you have made amends for that that mistake in other ways, the better you will feel.
If others have been affected, is it too late to ask for their forgiveness?
God bless you, and whatever you decide, I'm am sure it will be the right decision.
It's hard to keep living with a mistake that could affect the rest of your life.

What's the story behind your username / does it represent your profession / your pet / children etc etc rtc
