Soap Storylines Vs The Old Public Information' Films

This may sound like a cranky 'conspiracy theory' but it's almost as if the government feed soap opera makers story lines to educate the public rather than doing the old 'public information' films of old. The old 'if you have been affected by the events in this programme, then contact xxxx' would seem to substantiate this. Is the any evidence for this or should I just 'friend' David Icke?

I think you may be right, mind the acting was better in the old public information films imo.

Could be true of The Thick Of It(best series on BBC in years IMHO), probably far closer to reality than we'd ever dream possible.
