I have been to the Dominican Republic twice although admittedly during the summer. As far as I know the Dominican Republic is always cloudy! This is not to say that it isn't boiling hot, which it is. You will have a fantastic time, I loved it so much I got married there!

My boyfriend and I went to Dom rep this year, we had 2 days of sun then rain for the next 11 days!! The travel agent sold me the holiday by the white sand and blue sea...................Only to find on our first day cloudy grey water and dirty sand (not white) I was very disapointed!!

What part of the island are you going?

The Dominican Republic has a fair sprinkling of rain year round. Generally it is sunny and even when cloudy it is still warm. It depends on where your resport is in DR as to the extent of the rainfall. The North Coast (Cabarete, Puerto Plata) has the most annual rainfall but this tends to fall in the Autumum months. The south coast (Santo Domingo) has slightly less rainfall year round and is worst from May to Sept.

The peak season for visitors to The DR is Dec-April and June - Sept, so you are going out of season.
