They are born with legs that are longer in proportion to their bodies than an adult horse, but yes they do grow longer.
shiv: This spawns a question for you...Have you ever seen an adult horse or a newborn horse?
Well actually I was driving back home today through the new forest and the foals that were dropped in May are still recognisably foal shaped but their legs are as long as the adult horses. If you thought that they had just been born because they still look like babies, you might assume that they had been born with adult length legs
foals grow from the shoulder the legs stay the same length when born
Rubbish.!!!!!!!!!.......... A foals legs get longer as it grows older, not by a HUGE amount, imagine a 16hh foal with a 14.2hh's body being born....eeerr... nope !
