These feature in many recipes on www.cooks.com, an American recipe site. Does anyone know what the UK equivalent is?

These are a variety of white, dried beans also called Navy Beans here in the U.S. They are about one fourth to one half inch in length. Not any variety of lima or butter beans since they are much smaller... I think ya'll may call the equivalent cannelli's...

Pretty pic here: http://www.purcellmountainfarms.com/Great%20Northern%20Beans.htm or here with info: http://www.all-creatures.org/recipes/i-beans-grnorth.html

Try cannelli beans / whit kidney beans as substitutes as suggested. See: http://www.all-creatures.org/recipes/i-beans-cannellini-can.html Tons of dietary info on site.

Thanks guys, very helpful. Now looking forward to cooking some good foods.

On a tangent, last time I heard anyone say "y'all" was during a touring holiday of Louisiana. Great people, great hospitality, great food and great music.
