Hi, i need help!

I have just installed a shower pod and the hot water supply is at a much lower pressure than the cold water supply. this seems to be resulting in a back flow into the water tank situated in the loft causing it to overflow. my shower head is above the level of the hot water tank. my question is if i put in a pump for the hot water and also place a non-return valve into both the hot and cold systems, will this stop the back flow? and do i need a positive or negative head pump?
