I've just bought myself a mouse/scanner and in the small print it states that it was made with certain chemicals that could cause cancer and you should wash your hands after use.Has anyone heard of this and does it apply to every mouse? I don't fancy the aggro of washing every time I use the pc(no comments please) Thanks !

So the mouse is covered with a carcinogenic material?
I should imagine they are just covering their backs and there is nothing to worry about, in much the same way as most medicines state "death" as a possible side effect.

(what's a mouse/scanner BTW?)
I'm guessing this is a product available in the States. Something in the back of my mind tells me that as Californians (in particular - the other States are just as bad) sue over everything, you tend to have disclaimers on any product sold there - just in case.

I really wouldn't loose any sleep over it. I'm sure your mouse won't kill you.

As far as I know it acts as a flux for the plastics.I hope someone can expand on this!! Thanks for your interest.

It's made by LG model LSM-100,and as you correctly surmised Chuck and 2sp,the possibility of cancer was raised in California
Might be useful for use with a laptop if you are on the road or don't have desk space for a full scanner.
I'd like to see one, can you show us a link to one?
