When the batteries need changing, why do the constantly beep a 3 in the morning and wake me up. Why not during daylight hours. I am unable a 3am to get the steps out to change it.
Ours beep when they need changing too. But I can close the door on it and sleep through!

no but i know it works, everytime we open the oven after cooking it goes off
Ours seems to be mains run, the grill always sets the pesky thing off.
Because you might have a fire at 4am Jeza...
A mains run smoke alarm?! That's handy when the fire cuts the power off(!)
Could you pop round.

SB - they have batteries as back up.
Didn't know this...... Would explain why zebo has a mains one

"Since 1992 building regulations have required that at least one smoke alarm, wired directly to the mains, is installed in every new property."
I used to have a mains one. They still need batteries.
its the dinner gong in our house
Probably does have batteries as well, I've never looked, it certainly works! The house is 150 + years old but I think it must have been done when it was renovated beofre we bought it.
