So, it looks like we are on for the fireworks on Saturday. Yippee! However, he has told me a bunch of his mates will be there too.

I have this awful habit of being crippled with fear when I'm with people I don't know, especially a group of people who all know each other and it makes me come over as offish. He's said if I'm uncomfortable around them all then we can just wonder off but that will make me look like a cow too.

How do I play this? Considering it's only our second date isn't it a bit full on?

Shall I just drink a bottle of vodka before we go? ;)

I wouldn't consider it full on. He must really like you if he's going to introduce you to his mates :-)

hhmm, hope so. Just hoping when I do find the courage to actually speak I don't say something completely ridiculous! lol
Yeahhh! Don't play it at all - and don't drink a bottle of vodka! He likes who you are, so just be yourself - and if you say something completely ridiculous, laugh! Enjoy!! :o))))
Could you take a couple of friends too.

Lol, wouldn't dream of gettung drunk really. Unless I actually wanted for him to never speak to me again.
Fantastic, Evian, I'm really glad it went well.

You're not actually going there with his mates in tow, but they are just going to be there - is that right? So you're not going to be spending the whole evening with them. I suspect he wants to show you off to his friends, but chances are he'll want to spend most of the time alone with you as he obviously likes you.

Tenrec's idea is good - why don't you make sure some of your friends will be there as well. So at least you can say 'Oh there's xxxxxxx, just going over to say hello, back in a minute,' if you start feeling too uncomfortable.

But I've got a feeling it will be a lovely evening. xx
Hey Ruby, he likes you and imo thinks you are worth introducing to his mates, so relax I'm sure you'll have a great time.
I'm awkward around those I don't know too. I just play along as best I can, hoping they'll do most of the chatting and stuff until I feel more at ease as part of the group. Contribute a bit and if they still want to assume you are stand-offish then that's their issue.
you'll be fine. he ob wants you to meet his mates, that's a good thing. if its a bit full on, suggest you go get a drink or something to eat and take your time doing it

I got the impression he was planning on us meeting them there and staying with them. I haven't really got many friends who'd be able to make it to this one as it's a bit far away. I'll just see how it goes and hopefully not make a prat of myself. If I do I'll just go and find the hotdog van.
Evian, bear in mind that his friends will be meeting you for the first time as well, and they might be a bit tongue tied when their mate turns up with this gorgeous lady. Remember that they might be nervous about saying silly things too.

It's easy for me to say, but just relax and try to enjoy yourself. If you say or do the wrong thing, just apologise, admit you're nervous and try to laugh it off. x
the first thing the boys will do is want to suss you out as quick as possible and there is nothing better than a lass who is quite confident when meeting your mates. Stand up tall and go straight in and say hello! dont be the meek one at the back!
