You normally have to purchase the visa (I think about 10) when you arrive at the airport in Egypt.

This is from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office web site:

British visitors need a visa. These can be obtained from an Egyptian Consulate outside Egypt or on arrival by payment in Sterling or USD, for stays up to a month. Applications for extensions should be made at the Egyptian Passport and Immigration Offices. You may have difficulties leaving Egypt with an out of date visa. You will not normally be allowed to leave if the visa is out of date by more than 14 days. For visas and further information on entry requirements, check with the Egyptian Embassy in your country of residence.

I went to Sharm el Sheik in Sinai last November and NO you don't need a visa if you are staying in Sinai.  If you are visiting the Valley of the Kings, pyramids, etc and travelling outside Sinai, then YES you do need one!  I sent an email to the Egyptian Tourist Board in London and that is what they told me -- I said on arrival at Sharm airport that I wasnt travelling outside Sinai, they stamped my British passport but didnt put a stamp in it, wrote Sinai Only on the page and I was fine.  Dont get conned into paying -- you might not need it.  Obviously they won't tell you this, they want your money!  But you have to know - print off the email and take it with you  -- someone who has travelled there a few times told me and saved me around 30 per person.

Obviously my reply refers to my visit in which I went all over Egypt.  As I understand, the cost in 2005 for a tourist visa for UK nationals for Egypt (as a whole - single entry) is 15 per person.  For Danish nationals it is 12.

Passports must be valid for at least  months, and the visa validity period varies for up to 3-6months.

*Passports must be valid for 6 months from the date of entry
Good day,

I advise that my husband and step children plans to go to Egypt in August next year.

My baby is due at end of June 2006.

Please advise whether my baby and I will be allowed to visit Egypt with my husband and family in August 2006

Thank you
