2 ways to Worthing by train

what are the best ways to travel (on separate days) by train to Worthing, West Sussex, from:
1) Shepherds Bush?
2) Worthing?

I wouldn't have thought a train was necessary to travel from Worthing to Worthing !

From Shepherds Bush get the tube to Victoria then a train (Southern, I think).

I've just done a bit of checking, and it appears that Clapham Junction might be a better option than Victoria, but otherwise same trains.
