One hopes it is 100%. The guy's life will be ruined either way now.
Probably a combination of the sex offenders register, probation reports, criminal records and DVLA records, and a genuine need to show they are not afraind to use the public to get a result, which is what they have seemingly done,
I disagree, dotty. There is no evidence this suspect is a convicted sex offender or known criminal.

He had already been named by locals, had been publicly named on FaceBook, Twitter and other media sites and the police really had no choice but to confirm it. The police are still saying they are also pursuing other lines of enquiry and Bridger's has not been charged.

Bridger's is very well known in that area and is he was on the sex offenders' register everyone would have known about it.
They must have strong suspicions to hold him and no doubt they believe it is him. Possibly some evidence possibly not damming enough at the moment so they are building a case.
