It may be Clive Sullivan, who was the captain of the GB Rugby League team that won the World Cup in (I think) 1970, and was black - it would part explain the first line, and would explain the last.


Alternatively ( and more likely) Gary Sobers.


Chris Chataway - ITN newscaster, pacemaker for Bannister's 4-minute mile, 5,000 m world record, and winner of BBC Sports Personality of the Year, as was Moore later.
