As better off pensioners have paid more tax and have bigger houses but do not tend to use the bus so much I think they should be given bigger heating allowances.

Why?
Because they have more to heat.................
...to keep them at home?
So they can give it away. (good point though craft)
You have already told us you have a large house worth over £500,000 with (I recall) 5 bedrooms and room for parking 10 cars, plus another property left in a will, and a pension of only £3000 a month I think you need a bigger heating allowance to heat that lot.
Brimoan for prime minister ? anyone like to vote for him ?
Room for a pony in that big house?
Just park it out the back, there's loads of room?
lol..so craft will have more to donate to charity...apparently!
lol commoner, I don't live in a big house................
We have had more than half a century of the Welfare State and the poor are still poor and the wealthy are still wealthy.
In fact the gap between rich and poor has increased over the past 25years, .......................LOL..I have forgotten what point i was making......sorry.
But you did say " I give my heating allowance to a charity.." or do I really need to go to Specsavers..again? Heh heh!
If wealthy OAPs surrendered their bus passes could they not be given a sum in compensation? £500 a year seems about right to me.
No I do give my heating allowance to charity commoner............is this a problem?
craft I think it is very laudible ...and I was just joshin' honest x.
Perhaps I'm just looking after myself............this years recipient will be Age Concern.
lol...craft I'm very aged.......my silly reply to tin rattlers who ask would you like to "Help the Aged"...is "I am the bloomin' aged....just can't resist...that's just before I slip a tenner in the tin.....:-)
