Part way through a trip the satnav changed language. It went from a female to a male speaking in a foreign language. It sounded like Dutch. When OH went to change it back it was registered in Afrikaans. How on earth can it change its self like that?
Perhaps you do not have Dutch on the satnav and Afrikaan is the nearest thing to it. There were a lot of Dutch in S.Africa years ago weren't there.
Why it changed like that unless it picked up a signal locally, I do not know.
You are definitely in Holland are you carandrog? I mean, you didn't take a wrong turning somewhere?
Hope you having a good time anyway.
Hi Parkdale, we are definitely in Holland, but you wouldn't know it by the people here. I'm not being racist but the number of foreigners here has to be seen to be believed. We went to a large market and the ratio of Dutch to "Others" was
3 to 1 against. I don't think we did a wrong turning but the sat nav does keep saying do a u turn when possible!!
I was in Amsterdam and saw a group of Dutch people stting in a bar but talking English. I got into conversation with them and they said that it is quite common and they reguard English as virtually a national language.
