.......I would like to add, try to avoid finding out what political party your 'idols' support. Clint Eastwood supporting Mitt Romney has disappointed me a tad. Have any of the famous people that you admire/admired ever disappointed you?

Chris Patten heads mine, Vince Cable very bright. Sir George Younger, an extremely nice man. Willem Kok, Dutch Prime Minister, also impressive

Enoch Powell impressive (non political meeting)

Lord Waddington and Lord Caithness (known to us in Hong Kong as Lord Scrotum because of his semi-bald head) - yee gads, least said the better. http://www.sinclairgi...g/images/earl-pic.jpg
my OH has met Tony Robinson and says he's a great guy, really helpful and friendly, up for anything, no side on him at all.

So who knows?
I met Rustie Lee - anyone remember her? Dreadful temper.

George Melly, a delight. Warm, funny, a great host.
That's the thing, jno - everyone has their 'off' days, even weeks or months.
But for my nice one to meet...Chris Packham. He was lovely and fun.
Awww Chris Packham.....genius and generous with his time.

Least likeable was Bob Geldof ....miserable friggin so and so.
Thanks jno, for some reason I can't get to like him, even in Blackadder.
:( waaah! askyourgran ignored me. *sob*
I expect he's like most of us, gets on with some people, not with others.

Can't blame him for not wanting Baldrick brought up - spending years playing the village idiot isn't going to be something you want to talk about all the time.
Sorry hc you weren't there when I started typing. Off days for years even, I think TR has that sort of face. ;-)
I never liked Jason Donovan particularly but after meeting him I like him even less. Ardal O'Hanlon is lovely and seems very shy. My friend regularly served Emma Thompson in Woolworths and said you couldn't meet a nicer lady. I met a lot of politicians when I was younger but I didn't have a clue who they were. They were all pretty nice to me but I was only about 7....
were you the Downing Street cat, karenmac?
Question Author
hc4361: re actors etc hating what made them famous. Leonard Nimoy springs to mind. The title of his first autobiography was 'I Am Not Spock'. He hated being known, chiefly, as Spock. He later 'matured' and came to look at Spock affectionately and began to appreciate the many gifts that the role had given him. His next autobiography was entitled 'I Am Spock'.
Martin Shaw (The Professionals) has, apparently, always hated references to his role as Doyle. I think he's a very good actor, but he needs to stop being so precious. I think that if I ever met him I would be tempted to say 'Wow! Hi! I can't wait to tell my family that I met Bodie'. A double whammy, so to speak.
Mrs Owd is the one idol i need, never lets you down.
