Scotland Yard has intimated that an impending arrest in the case of the Police Officer brutally hacked to death and virtually decapitated in 1985 is imminent.

I well remember that dreadful event because I too was a serving Officer at the time and was also on night shift that night - albeit in a different city - when the news came in over our radios. It sent a shiver down my spine and made my blood run cold. I too was hospitalised on several occasions but nothing obviously as horrendous as Keith Blakelock's fate.

For the sake of his memory, his widow, and natural justice, let's hope for a successful outcome this time.
