rep eat
ecocide (ecocide + arms = anag democracies)
p(a j)ocke (POCKEt reduced)
trap p in gs
sear o vin g
re 14d, sear = "The catch in a gunlock that keeps the hammer halfcocked or fully cocked"
30a) ECOCIDE

remove the letters of ARMS from DEMOCRACIES and make an anagram
2d) looks like it has to be trappings but the only problem for me is equating 'fault' with 'trap' although there is geological term 'fault trap'
32a) pajocke ??? 'a j' inside pocke(t) - the obscurity being that the word only appears in some editions of Hamlet and is disputed
