well, that's the PDM and the Antihesis out of the way, now for the clues...

sunny-dave - THANK YOU! I'll have to see if I can find some 11ac to celebrate.
Olichant - re 27dn. Check the 3rd and 2nd letters (sic) of your answer in the BRB. That might help
Cruncher - a million thanks. You and sunny-dave, between you, have spared me untold angst. Really appreciate it.
A slightly late start this week as I was trying to finish 4199 which I did following a helpful nudge. And I feel I'm in a similar position this week trying to understand the meaning of 'guided by cell contents'. I agree with others that some of the misprints were well hidden.
Alan I am assuming you know what you have to show but not where - if you can identify an appropriate set of cells - quite a lot of them -you will see what to do. And if that explanation makes very little sense you can contact me at perseverer49(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk
Is anyone else having the same nagging worry as me? I have googled the connection and I know how to show the missing vowels. However what about where the vowels overlap? I have religiously followed the image provided by Google. I thought the theme was predictable but the whole crossword fitted together very neatly. Thanks Shackleton.
As we are instructed to leave cell contents legible it's reasonable to assume that thin lines will be acceptable for the missing vowels - the matter of which connection is 'on top' at the overlaps will therefore be impossible to see in most cases, but as ever, if you try to show that detail make sure you get it right !
Still away from home without the BRB, I've just about got to the end here but would be grateful for a hint to confirm the wordplay for 23ac. Otherwise just about done and impressed with the construction. Intending to continue the losing battle with 4199 based on the rapturous praise it received here, but without the BRB and with the style of clue used, it could be futile. I plod on.
23ac Think Biblical if you are able ...
For 23Ac look for a reversal inside another word (a murderer).
Thanks for your offer of help Perseverer but have seen the light and I must say I have a very neat grid ready to put in the post.

We have decided to go up to London this weekend to get some of the Olympic atmosphere and have been trying for hours to get tickets through the official website - what a frustrating experience and so far unfruitful.
Doh - simple really. Thanks.
well it looks like I'm going to be in a rather different Friday club! I started this late, but I've only got two thirds of the grid done, and no idea about what is going on, so I'll be lucky if I finish before 4201 hits the streets.
I wonder whether highlighting will be accepted instead of lines. I seem to remember a lot of controversy about this with a copyright sign in a previous puzzle a few years ago.
The problem with highlighting would be that 8 cells are shared by two (connecting word) so some 'mixed' cells would look 'wrong'.
Almost finished. Very enjoyable and some great hidden definitions, we thought.
Posted this off this morning en route to the paper shop to start all over again. 4200 was hard but not too hard for us (it took us 5 days) and a lot of fun. Thank you Shackleton!
Running late this (last?) week. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, which was much more straightforward than recent offerings, but with very satisfying pdms. Only gripe was the wordplay at 32d. I really don't think Shackleton has picked the right location for that particular usage. Maybe about 50 miles adrift...
Phew - just remembered I had put the endgame aside "for a couple of days". Knew what was required, and a little calculation showed exactly where it was required. But could I see what was there? Not a hope. All the various synonyms of the various relevant words were scanned for. Then bingo! Knock myself about the head for being just a tad over-complicated. I should have learnt by now
