can anyone share there experiences please. my orange broadband speed in the last 2/4 weeks has gone from 4.5 to 3.0 to 2.0 now its 1.90.!! orange recognised a problem and sent me a wireless router, but its made no difference. could the millions of extra people in the uk have anything to do with it.?. ps, im only a 4 min walk from the main box where its sent from. thanks.

Obviously at certain times of the day the speed slightly drops with more people on the net but not as much as you have indicated. Have you tried changing the router channel , also move the wireless router to another position for a start. Let us know what you have got
connected to this router. also where are you getting these download speed quoted from.

thanks kjn. my wireless router is well over 4 feet away from my computer as suggested in the manual. i have a netgear dongle in my computer which the wireless router sends its signal. set up is fine and have done a speed test both online and orange did one for me also and agreed its a bit slow. is it anything to do with bt, not orange.? thanks.
Could well be a problem on the telephone line, ask BT to check it out , I think you can actually check it out yourself. I take it that you have the filters etc on the incoming telephone line in your house in place.. Lastly what speed are you expecting.

kjn, filters are on and my approx speed over the last 6 months has been a steady 4.5. cheers ian.
Ian, You obviously know what you're doing so best to get on to BT and ask them to check the line then, can't think of any other reason why the speeds should be gradually dropping off . I am not too hot on dongles but if you have made no changes then can't see why it would be anything to do with that. Ken.
i was getting 20mps with orange permanently after router settled down but i had a wired connection, never a problem with them but change to a cheaper isp, plus net and pulling 18mbps no probs there either
youve definitely got something wrong there
