I thought that was towards the end after the cauldron had been lit though Towie, maybe they were worried about delays getting home or didn't want to listen to Paul!
The BBC reported yesterday that some of the highest-priced seats (around £1500 to £2500) remained unsold.
It's also possible that the technical requirements of the opening ceremony might have meant that items of equipment needed to be placed in some seating areas, meaning that those seats couldn't be sold on health and safety grounds.
I've just checked the actual prices of the unsold tickets, Ann. They were 'Category A', at £1600, and 'Category 'AA', at £2012.
50 quid wouldn't get you into some Premiership League football matches these days. Grand Prix tickets start from over £200. The best seats for Covent Garden opera performances cost £175.
Goodness me how do people afford it? I remember years ago paying £30 to see Rod Stewart playing "in the round" at Wembley, that was so expensive in those days! I don't go to concerts now we are retired :(
Have just booked tickets for 'Elbow' at Nottingham in November! Why on earth didn't they have them on at the end with their wonderful BBC Olympic Theme. It would have been more fitting.
Flamin' heck, Ann, I though that I was out of touch with musical trends. (I've heard that there's some young beat combo called 'The Beatles' who're quite popular though). But even I've managed to notice that Elbow have won the Brit Award, the Ivor Novello Award and the Mercury Music Prize. They're not exactly new arrivals on the music scene!
Am I being a bit simple here? but I noticed them as well and the huge TV screen was right in front of them so nobody could see anything if they were sitting in them there seats.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
