Olympics Rain Cancellation what happens ?

With all this rain I am wondering what happens if a day or more of the Olympics are 'rained off' ?
Will ticket holders get a refund or ticket to the rescheduled events ? I can't see many events taking place if there is rain like we have had today. As far as I know tickets are just for a 1/2 day either morning or afternoon for each venue, it would be easy for a 1/2 day to be lost. The schedual is so tight I can't see where there is any 'slack' to even reschedual anyway.
More pessimistically with many events being held on what was / is marsh land what if the water table rises and floods the entire site ? I used to work there and our factory was regularly flooded out , the normal water table is just a couple of inches below the surface all around there.

You'd think with the warning of having had such crap weather for so long they'd have put some kind of contingency in place (like being able to shut the roof for Wimbledon). Can they shut the stadium roof? A lot of events are indoors anyhow so maybe they have a track and field (and other outdoor stuff) contingency?

But for track and field, I presume they just go ahead in the rain.

Most of the Olympics are outdoors, running ,track and field, athletics . Even stuff like archery is outside . There are no roofs on any Olympic stadium apart from things like swimming and cycling. The outdoor aspect is part of the essence of the Olympics. For example for running events the wind speed has to be measured , if it is over a minimum level then any events can not count for an Olympic record , they still count for that particular games results but not for world or Olympic records.

jno, you simply can't go ahead with 'track and field' in the rain far too dangerous . Imagine a shot putter or javelin thrower slipping on a wet track !!!! not to mention a pole vault in the rain !!!

Athletics gets held in all sorts of foul weather. It was tipping down at Crystal Palace last weekend for example.

Of course you can have Track and Field in wet - very wet - weather. In fact I can't think of too many events that would suffer too much from rain. It might make the beach volleyball even more popular :-). Anyway, the outlook is for fine weather in the south east as far as I can see

Basketball, volleyball, handball, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, judo, tae kwondo, gymnastics, swimming, track cycling for example all are indoor sports.

It has already been stated that if this weather continues the beach volleyball will be held wearing track suit bottoms not swin suits !

Most events at London 2012 will go ahead as normal even if it pours down. However, some might be affected at times of particularly bad weather. In any case the terms and conditions on the London 2012 website are very clear.

Generally, there are no refunds available if a session is delayed during the day, or is "substantially completed" when the interruption occurs.

If a session is not substantially completed and is rescheduled to take place as a new session (i.e. separate from an existing, scheduled, session), the ticket holder may retain their original ticket for admission to the rescheduled session.

If a session is cancelled, then the person who bought the ticket will need to apply for a refund of the face value by sending back the ticket along with a refund application form.

ABerrant thanks that is what I was asking, so a ticket holder would at least get to see the events they paid for, not like Wimbledon where if your day is rained off that's your lot no refund no ticket for another day.
